The Spirit Lake Youth Sports Fieldhouse

A New Chapter for Our Community Begins

On Friday, May 9, Spirit Lake Youth Sports (SLYS) proudly broke ground on the first permanent home for youth sports and wellness programming in the Spirit Lake Nation: the Spirit Lake Youth Sports Fieldhouse.

This milestone marks more than the start of construction—it signals the beginning of a stronger, healthier, and more connected future for our youth and families.

About the Fieldhouse

The Fieldhouse is a 4,800 square-foot, multi-purpose community space designed to serve as:

  • A headquarters for Spirit Lake Youth Sports operations

  • A hub for coaching, training, and mentorship programs

  • A vital support structure for our outdoor baseball, softball, and football fields

  • A meeting space for youth, families, elders, and volunteers

It includes restrooms, concessions, equipment storage, and administrative offices—all vital infrastructure to support safe, consistent, year-round youth sports.

Why It Matters

This project represents a major milestone for Spirit Lake Nation:

  • It’s the first tribal-led construction project for youth wellness and recreation in over a decade.

  • It reflects the growing success and momentum of Spirit Lake Youth Sports as a culturally grounded, community-powered organization.

  • It provides a space for connection—between generations, between sport and culture, and between vision and action.

Together, we are creating more than a building. We are creating a foundation for the next generation of leaders, athletes, and cultural stewards.

Help Us Finish Strong

We are actively raising funds to furnish and equip the Fieldhouse for its opening. This includes furniture, fixtures, sports gear, and technology to support programming year-round.

You can support this effort by:

  • Becoming a business sponsor

  • Donating in honor of a youth or elder

  • Contributing to our public “wish list” for equipment and furnishings

Together, we’ll ensure this facility opens fully ready to serve our youth.

Spirit Lake Youth Sports: Built From the Ground Up

Founded by community members, built through tribal support, and powered by partnerships, SLYS is a model for grassroots leadership and cultural resilience. The Fieldhouse is our latest milestone—but far from our last.
